Hi Mamas,
Being a mompreneur means balancing motherhood, business, and everything in between. We know how much routine and structure help our kids, and honestly, I am learning how much I need it too. Every morning before the kids are up, I savor a quiet cup of coffee or tea. Those 30 peaceful minutes are my reset before stepping into the whirlwind of working from home, running a small business, and managing life as both a mom and entrepreneur. Finding a routine that works is what keeps me grounded and my bookkeeping systems on track.
Morning Moments That Set the Tone

My mornings usually set the tone for the rest of my day. I have always been a morning person, but I did not realize how much I loved slow mornings until my firstborn started waking up at 5:30 a.m., demanding pancakes and bursting into our bedroom like a tiny alarm clock… The joys of toddler beds!
That early chaos taught me something. When I start my day with intention, even just a cup of coffee in silence, everything else flows better. Now I am just trying to incorporate a better working routine amongst it all!
The Reality of Working from Home with Kids
Being a mompreneur is nothing like I imagined, especially with two little ones. My first stayed home with me for his first two years, and without much help during the workday, I struggled to get anything done.
He is active, which I adore as a mom, but it made working from home incredibly challenging. Client calls during meltdowns, relying on TV too much, and constantly trying to multitask. I thought I was being strong, but really, I was burning myself out.
Finding Support That Changed Everything
Fast forward to today. My oldest is in preschool, and I have a babysitter who helps with my youngest three days a week. It means I get at least three full workdays, and it has been one of the best decisions I have made for myself, my family, and my business.
It is amazing how much more present I can be in both roles when I am not stretched thin in all directions.
The Power of Deep Work
Deep work is everything. It lets you get into that flow state where you are productive, calm, and creative. I think back to those early days when I was just trying to squeeze in work during 15-minute windows while my toddler played.
But let’s be real, those 15 minutes were never truly productive. Bookkeeping, like motherhood, requires focus and intention. You need time to settle in, get into your groove, and wrap up at a good stopping point.
Time Blocking and Flexibility
That is why I follow a time blocking system now. It helps me focus on one thing at a time, stay flexible for mom life interruptions, and keep our family rhythm flowing. If I need a change, then I simply drag and drop my time block to another time.
On the days I do not have help or when my kids are home sick, I give myself grace. Kids sense our stress, and I have learned it is not worth pushing too hard. I might wake up early to work or squeeze in a few quiet minutes during nap and tv time, but those days are about prioritizing them.
Rest Is Still Productive
And if I am being completely honest, some days I have the sitter and my oldest is in school, and I use that time to sit in silence or work on light tasks like social media or planning content.
Because motherhood is chaotic, and sometimes the most productive thing you can do is rest.
The Second Shift of Mom Life
Our job as mompreneurs does not end when we close the laptop. We move straight into our second shift, school pickup, dinner prep, bedtime routines, and answering emails while the kids climb the counters like jungle gym pros.
It is never ending, and that is okay. Some days you will miss a meeting or reschedule a client call, and that does not mean you are failing.
You are building something meaningful, one small, intentional step at a time.
